Word has it that this was the very last night Lesh and Lagin performed together publicly, and over the years no tape has appeared of the late show, so this may be the very last of their performances on record.

What a find this is! Makes me wonder if there are other Lesh/Lagin recordings out there yet to surface on the archive; let's call this something other than Phil & Friends, please. It really isn't, in any linear way, related to Phil's quintet/sextet combos after '94.
And yes, the crowd is *mostly* quiet and respectful - although one drunk dude in the audience clearly has some issues with not being the center of attention.

An excellent recording of some truly amazing and weird improvisational music. Personally I like this better than the "Seastones" album.
Most outstanding though is perhaps how quiet the audience is during these explorations. Would most probably not be like that in 2013.
So thx a lot to the uploader of this gem!

that is NOT correct. please correct the 'collection' and 'band/artist' entries to reflect that the compositions and performances are by ned lagin, with other musicians.
